Yoga

Welcome at Golden Sun Yoga.

At Golden Sun Yoga you practice with Kyriaki three means of Yoga:

Meditation, Yoga asana  and Pranayama.

You practice meditation (stillness, concentration, observation of the mind) for peace, love and illumination.

You practice asanas (exercises or postures) for a strong and healthy body.

You practice pranayama (breathing exercises) for great vitality, expansion of the respiratory system and for control of the energy and mind.

Relaxation (shavasana) is also practiced in the end of each session.

The practice is for you. Best practice brings perfection.

Asanas

Yoga asana is a steady and pleasant posture which produces mental equilibrium and prevents fickleness of mind. It is gymnastic exercises, posture and movements.

The practice is based on the traditional yoga using classical postures and movements, both from Hatha and Kundalini yoga systems. Every movement is in a flow with the breathing. Keeping a pose using the power of breathing. You will reach a meditative state of practicing as you control the body, and consequently the mind will get in control. It is a combination of mind, body and breathing.

Meditation

Meditation is a state of consciousness. It cannot be taught, just as sleep cannot be taught. One falls into it. It comes by itself. It requires daily practice – regularity. There is a constant observation of the mind, bringing the awareness inwards.

Through meditation, the play of the mind is witnessed. There can be grooves in the mind that are uplifting and ones that can bring us down. The express purpose of meditation is to create new, positive channels in the mind, and to eradicate those that are destructive. It is an absolutely scientific process, but the goal is spiritual. Ultimately the intuitive forces are released, leading to a life of wisdom and peace.

Pranayama

Pranayama is the fourth stage or mean of the Yoga path. Prana means energy, respiration, vitality breathing. It is the extension of the breath and its control. This is the science of breathing.
You control the vital energy by mental means. This  process of controlling prana through mental concentration is called Raja yoga. Real breath control means controlling the way we exhale. Of the many benefits of proper breathing, one of the greatest is increased bodily awareness.
